When Alexa Hampton speaks, people listen.
Alexa Hampton is a world-famous designer who is in demand not only for her particular aesthetic but also as a speaker, author and business woman.
Her father, Mark Hampton, was the founder and creative genius behind the family’s prestigious interior design firm. After his sudden death, when Alexa was only 28, she defied the skeptics by keeping the firm’s standards – and profits – set to a respectably high mark.
Her talents are sought after around the globe, and she has also developed signature business lines for a number of product categories, including some spectacular fabric and trims for Kravet.
One piece of advice from Ms. Hampton that we find especially insightful is her admonition to preserve the fundamental logic of how a room functions when giving it a do-over. She reminds us to “reinvent the room in other ways.”
The exception to this rule, or perhaps the proof, is in the dining room, which often goes unused for long periods of time. She notes that this is the perfect place to let loose with over-the-top design. In fact, it helps keep the dining room from looking uninhabited – especially with the addition of lush drapery to give it a cozy look.
Alexa Hampton’s collection of trim for Kravet features aqua, blue, gold, and orange – the signature palette of the Greek Pantheon, as well as a series of muted pastels, and perfect for adding a splash to those sumptuous dining room chairs and window treatments.
Her collection of Kravet fabrics reveals a distinctly European flavor, expertly portraying subtlety and warmth … using elements both classic and eclectic. She has traveled and studied around the world, and though she lives in here in the States her reputation is international.
Her native language? The one she learned at her father’s knee, of course.
It’s the language of design – and that speaks volumes.
