High performance fabrics from Maharam.
We caught this post in a design blog we follow …
“Nike Air Moc makes an exciting comeback this year …. This time, we will be seeing them in Jacquard uppers in nice exciting and lively colors from highly-regarded textile house Maharam. The entire upper fabric has been interestingly woven and flaunts some vivacious colors like hot orange spice and red plum.”
This made us smile, for a couple of reasons.
First, who doesn’t love it when fashion favors comfort, and sportswear latches onto a bold colorway not commonly found on feet?
Secondly, we didn’t know Nike shared our passion for those amazing Maharam Jacquard fabrics.
Wouldn’t it be fun if we could order up some Nike’s in any of Maharam durable Jacquard fabrics? Of course, not even Shaq’s shoes would be large enough to do justice to some of the big, beautiful patterns in the Maharam collection.
For example, the Balustrade pattern (463120), with its lavish 20.75” vertical repeat and 13.75” horizontal repeat, deserves a dramatic showcase. But the nature of the design lends itself equally well for upholstering dainty seat cushions, sweeping divans, or giant upholstery projects. And since it’s offered in 11 sumptuous shades, it works almost everywhere.
It works hard, too. This high performance polyester/cotton/rayon blend earns an astonishing 60,000+ double rubs durability rating, meets all the appropriate flammability requirements, and features an acrylic backing and a PFOA-free stain resistant finish.
Another thing we like about Maharam textiles, besides their work ethic, is their eco-ethic. Foremost among Maharam’s efforts as a “good corporate citizen” is its ISO 14001 certification. This ensures that every environmental impact stemming from business practices has been identified and measured with the guidance of an environmental consulting firm, and that initiatives have been put in place to reduce those impacts.
Perhaps the only thing more impressive than how this particular Balustrade fabric look greats, works hard, and holds up, is how many other designs in the collection meet equally tough criteria.
