Live in Technicolor!
In an earlier blog, we referenced the latest design trends and promised to return to this theme.
Let’s talk color.
Ever since last fall, we have all noticed that the popularity of turquoise (we love turquoise) has migrated beyond the borders of aquamarine to include teal and navy.
Now, is it just our imagination, or have we been seeing more cobalt accents ever since the film Avatar started dominating the scene? Those beautiful blue-skinned natives of Pandora may have gotten under our skin as interior designers and trend setters.
Our showroom offers some wonderful fabrics in as many shades of blue as we can imagine. But we are especially taken with the “Dandelion Dreams” pattern, shown in “Blue Lagoon.” We could dive right into this 100-percent recycled polyester fabric, which is specifically offered for residential, contract and hospitality applications. It truly looks like a frame pulled right out of the Avatar CG graphics bank.
If we extend this trend along these familiar lines (e.g., organic colors that blaze a trail for saturated gem- tones, with a little help from Hollywood) we can easily predict that the spring green of Shrek will give way to the hunter green of Robin Hood.
By the way, fashion diva Rebecca Minkoff admits to getting inspiration from Tim Burton films and at a recent NY show featured a stunning Emerald green gown.
We smell a trend! Emerald green fabrics and wallpapers, paired with a contrasting canary yellow … or maybe a splash of that Pandora blue?
The results could be, well, cinematic!
