Lee Joffa and Oscar de la Renta skirts auctioned for charity
If you follow the “Inspired Talk” Kravet blog (we do) you know what every discerning female interior designer wants to wear at the next holiday bash.
It’s a fabulous gown (or kaftan) featuring the fabrics of Oscar de la Renta – created for his new association with Lee Jofa. The skirts and caftan were featured in national ads and promotional materials in the showrooms announcing the collection, and are now being auctioned to benefit Casa del Niño.
Founded in 1982 by Xiomara Menendez and Oscar de la Renta, Casa del Niño is regarded as the most complete project of child assistance in the Dominican Republic – a model in efficiency and quality care. At Casa del Niño, every child receives food, full dental and medical care, and vocational training – all in hope of a better tomorrow for the youth of the community. Today, this worthwhile organization cares for more than 1,500 children, from newborns to young adults.
With such a great charity poised to benefit from any personal extravagance, this is a golden opportunity to invest in an original by Oscar. The items were created by hand in the atelier of Mr. de la Renta, and feature the hallmarks of his superb quality and workmanship.
Each full-length skirt is fully lined and created from fabrics from Oscar de la Renta’s Home collection – in various shades of blue that range from navy to Wedgwood. Although they are only offered in designer sizes 2 to 4 (right) Mr. de la Renta’s atelier has confirmed that each skirt can be altered from the waist to accommodate any size, and the skirts have generous length.
Each item is exquisite and a one-of-a-kind collector’s item – you can view them here.
Bidding will be hosted online through November 30, 2010 at biddingforgood.com with an opening bid of $750 for each item.
Of course, we hope they sell for fortunes – it’s for a great cause, and the fashions come complete with a terrific story to wear, share, and help warm up those stiff social functions.
