La Boheme
Puccini’s La Boheme is one of the most popular operas of all time. Beyond the heart-wrenchingly fetching music, the story captivates us with characters we love and can relate to –the struggling poet, the starving artists, the lovely young girl who tries to earn her bread by selling hand-embroidered linens as delicate as her own winsome self.
Clarke & Clarke have a fabric collection that appeals on a similar level. It’s captivating without being flamboyant. It’s accessible without being boring. It includes lovely floral designs that are balanced by stripes, dots and ivy patterns.
Did we mention that the collection is called, “Boheme”?
Printed on a fine panama cotton, the collection features five simple yet modern designs that beg to be layered, mixed and matched in the most carefree, avant-garde manner.
“Clementine” is a big, loose rose pattern with soft shading that makes a quieter statement than the giant repeat implies. “Monique” is a more exotic floral, in complementary colors. And “Lavinia” traces a trail of leaves in a pattern that works everywhere. Mix in charming stripes and polka dots – including a sheer voile – and voila – you have Boheme.
Offered in five stylish shades – Berry, Chartreuse, Lacquer Red, Aqua and Citrus – it’s enough to bring out the inner gypsy in all of us.
