Fabrics that take the limelight.
If you’re a NeoCon veteran, you know that it’s the event where the design world comes together for three days of goose-necking – checking out new thinking, new resources, and new products. The swirl of 2010 NeoCon just wrapped in Chicago, and we were delighted to see that our friends at Maharam still have what it takes to turn heads.
A fourth generation family-run business, Maharam was originally renowned as a supplier of theatrical textiles. In the 1960s Maharam pioneered the contract textile concept, developing engineered textiles for commercial application. Though performance is an essential element of every product, Maharam continues to create innovative textiles through the exploration of pattern, material and technique.
The Maharam Design Studio is responsible for the development of their extensive textile collection, ranging from re-editions of enduring designs of the twentieth century’s most noted visionaries to fashion-forward concepts and materials. The Maharam Design Studio maintains a strong focus on new technologies and cultural markers, often finding inspiration beyond the textile industry, including collaborations with avant-garde industry outsiders. Conceived to foster an open dialogue across varied design disciplines, these collaborative projects also serve to introduce a fresh perspective and unexpected media into the world of textiles.
Maharam celebrated their centennial in 2002 and trust us, they still have a flare for the theatrical.
Their Dingbats design, featured in the Interior Design magazine New Products listing, is a sure bet to upstage less confident fabrics. Manufactured to hold up to the rigors of commercial seating applications, it meets all upholstery requirements for flammability (California Bulletin #133.5), environmental impact (74% cotton), and reduced emissions (Greenguard for Children and Schools certified).
This is just one sample of the amazing work that comes out of the Maharam designers.
If you’re looking for an upholstery collection that performs with the dramatic authority of a stage veteran, stop by KMD Showrooms.
We’ll be happy to show you more Maharam fabrics guaranteed to put your interior designs in the spotlight.
