An eco high five.
What’s your preferred gesture of appreciation?
A thumbs-up?
A fist bump? Or a fist pump?
Do you offer a snappy salute or a deeply bowed wai?
We have consistently reported on and applauded the many ways the interior design community has been stepping up to concerns about the environment. More specifically, we heralded York Wallcoverings for their eo-décor initiative.
Now we’re giving them an old school “high five.”
That’s because the people at York have identified five areas of opportunity in which they’ve committed to doing the right thing.
1. Energy Conservation – for example, they’ve cut natural gas consumption by 40%.
2. Indoor Air Quality Certification – they completely reformulated their commercial vinyl wallcovering to meet the California Department of Health Services requirements for office and school interiors.
3. Use of water-based inks – for more than a decade of generating zero hazardous waste.
4. No lead or cadmium – none in the pigments or substrates.
5. Membership in the U.S. Green Building Council – because it’s smart to make it a community effort.
If this sounds good, stop by our showroom to see how amazing it looks.
For example, the Ronald Redding Special Effects II collection uses real Asian Magnolia leaves on a water-based, ink-stained fibrous background using 100%, breathable, natural fibers. The collection also uses YorkGuard AM, the safe, eco-friendly, EPA-approved coating for commercial wallcoverings that provides guaranteed protection against mold, mildew, bacteria and odor causing germs.
And there’s more where that came from. Much more.
It’s a daily battle to keep it green.
Today, we’re flashing a V – for victory.
